Moving in!

On 8 September we officially arrived in Marseille as a family.

My parents were also with us for four days to help us get furniture assembled and everything put away quickly.

It took us about ten days to settle in properly and start feeling at home. This period was very intense and exhausting. We can’t remember ever having such a tiring move. Perhaps it’s because we’re getting older — or because it’s the first time we’ve moved with two children. Most likely the second reason!

The children also found their feet after about ten days. We’re grateful and are having great family moments on the large grounds around our home. Here’s a photo of Théa getting to know the chickens and discovering that the eggs she sometimes eats are laid by them!

Getting involved and looking ahead

On 13 September the Sunday service took place, including our welcome into the church.

Charlie is involved as co-leader of the youth group. He is also on the pastoral team and the leadership team. Charlie will also preach regularly, and as a family we will take part in church life.

On 27 September Charlie will bring the message at ICCM, an international church that meets in the St-Just premises.

We are closely following discussions about a church plant in the 14th arrondissement, particularly with another couple who are interested.

Between now and January we will build connections with people involved in social and community work, so we can put together a good programme for the three young German women who will spend three months in Marseille for their FSJ (voluntary service year called IMPACT) with Liebenzell Mission. They will be housed in a flat right next door to us. It’s a lovely place where you can enjoy beautiful sunsets, among other things.

Housewarming

On Sunday the 20th we invited all our neighbours and the church round to celebrate the end of our move into our new home.

We’re glad to have warm and welcoming neighbours.

Prayer points for October

  • 1–2 October: stay in Paris for a Perspectives seminar
  • Meeting with Thierry Steux on 5 October to visit Perspectives church St-Louis in the 15th arrondissement. Possible collaboration on the IMPACT programme (Liebenzell Mission).
  • Leading the youth group on 10 October
  • Leading the service at St-Just on 11 October
  • Preaching at St-Just on 25 October
  • Planning the trip to the UK from 13 to 27 November. Please pray that we find partner churches and that more support comes from the UK.
  • Please pray for a good first contact with the couple interested in church planting in the 14th.

Your support

Our annual giving goal is almost reached!

We still need about 10 regular supporters who give between £20 and £100 a month.

If you’d like to join our support circle, please go to “Make a gift”.

Thank you to everyone already supporting us 🙏

With much love to all our friends, family and supporters across borders,
The Vogt Family
